Though we are miles away from each other, we do keep in touch. You see, Tia lives in Florida and me, I reside in Massachusetts. We check up on one another routinely. Though we are worlds apart, our hearts are joined together! There are no words to express our extraordinary friendship other than: "God Is Good! Pandemic, Part 4, Grief

Image
Dear Friends, I haven’t written in a while so, I thought I would try today. I have been going through a difficult time, a time of trials, grief, despair and sadness. The Coronavirus is still raging and even spiking in some states. The state of Massachusetts has been careful in managing this Pandemic, slower than most states to reopen. Being a person with severe, life threatening medical problems, I am grateful to the governor and to all of the other people who have made decisions carefully, driven by the data. I live in an assisted senior living residence and there have been times when I have been fearful and frightened. These past few weeks have not been easy. Last Monday, a close friend passed. Last Tuesday, another friend of mine had passed. Last Wednesday a dear friend of mine had passed. These deaths are the latest of the people in my life who have died this year, people that I’ve known and I’ve loved I realize that death is a part of Life but, it min...

PANDEMIC PART 3 5-22-2020

Image
Pandemic, Part 3 Dear Friends, It’s been over 2 months since this Pandemic began in the city in which I live. Living in a densely populated city, besides residing in an assisted living community, we are still under shelter in place regulations. As with most people, this Pandemic has been difficult, challenging, demanding, excruciating and many times, extremely frightening. Being the person I am, I try to find good in everything and everyone. Though it has been more challenging to see good in this coronavirus, I am pleased to say that there is good. The good is not in this coronavirus itself, but, in most people. People have given, when they, themselves are hurting. People have been kind, when a minority of humans have been insolent. People have sacrificed so we, as people, are well, taken care and our basic needs are met. People have been patient, even when others choose to be disruptive and self-seeking. I, myself, have changed! I’m more ap...

MY MOTHER, A PERSON OF LOVE AND WONDER 5-9-2020

My Mother, A Woman of Love and Wonder My Mother: “A Woman of Love and Wonder” When I think of my mother, I recall the days of my childhood. As a young age, I was convinced of this: My mother knew "everything"! In those early days of my childhood, my mother seemed to always know where I was and what I was doing. Like other children I grew up with, I assumed she had eyes in the back of her head! My mother was magical and infallible! My mother is now in her senior years. With age, we are both realizing a loss of control over some matters in our lives. We don’t have the good health, vigor or stamina that came with being youth. I have to tell you this though, my mother is still “magical”! My mom senses when her children are sick or in need. She somehow knows when something has gone terribly wrong or when a matter in our lives has transpired in a miraculous manner. My mother a person of love and wonder! Though our lives have changed with years, my ...

PLEASE DONATE TABLETS / IPADS TO SENIOR LIVING FACILITIES 4-18-2020

Image
I live in an assisted senior living and it is the same here, as most senior living facilities. The staff here are doing their best and are actually doing an extraordinary job. More is needed to keep my fellow residents, who most do suffer from memory issues, to keep people occupied and have a distaction from all that's going on with this coronavirus. Tablets and ipads are a fabulous idea, to keep residents connected to family and friends! If people could donate tablets and/or ipads to senior living facilities, hospitals, halfway houses, group homes, nursing homes and places like this. It would help to keep people connected with others. Loneliness is a dark place. People, especially older people, need to be connected with others, especially with family and friends. Technology can be an amazing tool for us all to keep connected with others! Evelyn Pinto April 18, 2020
