LIVNG IN AN ADVANCED AGE 6-12-2021

Image
Dear Friends, It’s been a while since I’ve written a script, one that I would love to share with you. Whoever said that living in an advanced age was easy? Well, whoever was alleged to have said this must have been young and somewhat delusional! Getting older is not easy, my friends. It’s difficult and it’s a rollercoaster of a ride! Yes, I am fortunate to be alive at my age but, what usually comes with being older are more problems. My body doesn’t work as well as it did in my youth. I live with serious and life threatening health issues that capture much of my life. I am plagued with aches, moans and groans. The inside plumbing is usually not in working condition either. I have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Asthma and Congestive Heart Failure to name a few. I also, because of my numerous health conditions, I live with chronic fatigue, chronic pain, a paralyzed diaphragm in my left lung, congestion causing me to be and feel sick, weak and exhausted much ...

SAYING GOOD-BYE TO BRITTANY 5-14-2021

Image
Saying Good-Bye to Brittany Saying good-bye has always been difficult for me. Saying farewell to someone who has left an imprint on my heart is even more challenging. Today, we, the residents of the Visiting Nurse Association of Eastern Mass. Assisted Senior Living Residence had a Farewell Departure Dance and Movement Time with our intern, Brittany. Brittany has been an intern here, at our Assisted Senior Living Residence for several months. Brittany has led several Music and Movement groups, discussion groups and has done other various tasks in our Assisted Senior Residence. My favorite times spent with Brittany was when she worked at our Reception Desk from early morning until afternoon on weekend days. On many of these mornings, Brittany and I would have lively discussions and listen to fun music. We would also deliberate on her homework, where I would give her my answers to her homework questions and tell how I came to those conclusions. Brittany’s groups were fun, ...

TO MY MOTHER, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! MAY 9, 2021

Image
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOM! My mother, Gloria Pinto, is astutely amazing! My mother  and father have raised 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys. I happen to be a middle child. As a child, I was born with a strike of stubbornness, a generous amount of independence, a strong will, and an awakening purpose of protecting those I love. I assume that I acquired much of this from my mother! I love my mother with my entire heart and soul!! I love my family immensely! As I ponder over the craziness in the world today, it’s my mother who has it right. My mother has a calmness about her and an assurance of how the world should evolve and how she wants her life to be. My mother is a strong, Christian woman of faith. My mother loves God, has accepted Jesus as her Savior and walks the Christian life. My mother portrays an example of how to live a life of faith, love and sacrifice. My mother loves people, all people. My mom loves her children and has...

PANDEMIC 7, THE PANDEMIC'S LASTING EFFECTS, 3-20-2021

Image
PANDEMIC 7 The Pandemic’s Lasting Effects Dear Family and Friends, I received the 2 nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine on February 23 rd . I should be ecstatic that I did get the vaccine. I should be jumping for joy that I didn’t get Covid-19 as well. Well, my family and friends, though I am super grateful for both of these good fortunes, I am not jumping for joy. The months of isolation, the loss of people I love, the loss of the life as I knew it and not being with those I love, especially when they needed me, has had its’ lasting effects on me. Not being able to grieve and, especially not being able to grieve with others, has also taken its’ toll on me. I am usually the person who has bountiful energy and able to go out to others. Now, I find myself depressed, feeling alone and struggling. I want to be with those I love, especially my 91+ years old mother. My mother is now inpatient in the hospital with fluid buildup in her lungs. I want to be there for my moth...

Pandemic Part 6, “HOPE” And The Vaccine Dear Friends, It’s been a difficult, challenging and painful year! There is hope my friends! Vaccines to fight this Coronavirus are being given. And I will soon get the Covid-19 vaccine myself. The Pandemic, as of this cold day in January, it is still raging on. It has been a year since the 1 st case of Covid-19 was diagnosed in the United States. Covid-19 has brought with it pain, loss, grief, financial hardship, loss of livelihood, hunger, depression and much more. Friends have passed away from the Coronavirus. Other family and friends have died from illnesses, not related to Covid-19. I have been grieving these losses and more. For me, from this past year of 2020 to the commencement of 2021, it’s been challenging and difficult. My mother has been hospitalized with life threatening, serious medical problems. By the grace of God, my mother is still with us and medically stable to continue her recovery in Rehab. My sist...
