Governor Mitt Romney appointed Beth Lindstrom as the Director of the Massachusetts Office Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation ("OCABR") in January 2003. Director Lindstrom supervises the following seven regulatory agencies: the Department of Telecommunications and Energy, the Division of Energy Resources, the Division of Banks, the Division of Insurance, the Division of Standards, the Division of Professional Licensure and the State Racing Commission. In this role, she manages the regulatory affairs of Massachusetts industries with combined assets of over $ 300 billion. The OCABR agencies annually license and regulate more than 500,000 individuals and companies.
Director Lindstrom is the consumer protection voice of the Romney administration. This work is coordinated with a continuing recognition of the needs of businesses so that the Massachusetts economic engine can prosper. Lindstrom implemented the Massachusetts "Do Not Call" law, which has registered nearly two million phone numbers to protect consumers from unwanted telemarketing calls. She continues to pursue consumer education awareness on a host of other issues, including identity theft, home improvement contracting and financial literacy. "Hi-Fi", her office's high school financial literacy program is the first-ever Massachusetts state government-administered program aimed at implementing a personal finance curriculum in high schools across the Commonwealth on a voluntary basis.

Lindstrom was the first woman to serve as Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery. At its helm, she oversaw all aspects of the $3 billion agency, including a $60 million budget and 400 employees. Following these years of state service, Lindstrom along with two partners, created an online marketing company.

In addition to her current public service, Lindstrom volunteers her time chairing the Board that oversees the Learning Express Toy Store in Acton, Massachusetts, which is wholly owned by the Groton Community School. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut in 1983 and her Master's degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University in 1997.
