Image
Dear Family & Friends, On Tuesday, August 31 st , 2020, my mother, Gloria Pinto, will be 91 years young! Though I did spend a few precious days with my mother recently, I will not be there for my Mom’s 91 st Birthday. I live in an assisted living and because of this Pandemic happening in the world, our assisted living, like most long term care facilities, we are still on lockdown. I, and my fellow residents cannot travel from our assisted living, with the exception being medical appointments. I wrote this letter to my mother and gave it to her, with other presents, when we were together last. Please read this tribute to the “Best Mother In The World” and join me in wishing my mother, Gloria Pinto, “A Wonderfully Spectacular 91 st Birthday! Thank you everyone! MOTHER AND ME 8-25-2020

Image
T he Colonoscopy went, I guess, okay. I would like to thank everyone for their prayers, kind words and well wishes! I was under general anesthesia so, I was completely out! I want to thank my doctors, nurses and my medical team for their outstanding medical care and treatment! I want to thank, also, my sister, Roseanna, for driving to the hospital, staying at the hospital, then driving me to my mother's home. Yes, I decided to take this opportunity to spend a few days with my mother. Time with my mother has been sweet, precious and so amazing! We do ordinary things things, like watching TV together, eating together, praying together and enjoying moments of splendid simplicity with each other! Yes, with my mother the ordinary becomes extraordinary! May God bless my mother! May God bless all mothers! With love, sincerity and prayers, Evelyn, at my mother's home. August 19, 2020

TREATED ALSO WITH LOVE 8-15-2020

I was at the hospital for doctors’ appointments and medical tests. I was amazed by the friendly, smiling faces that I was greeted with. People had an authentic desire to help. I ran into a few friends, a few of my respiratory therapists friends. These wonderful humans, Alice, Jenn and that other precious soul whom I don’t recall her named, took time from their busy day to talk with me. We even posed for a few pictures. All the staff at the hospital I go for my medical care from doctors to nurses, respiratory therapists, hospital chaplains and a lot more hospital personnel, have treated my illnesses, cured my pneumonias and on several occasions, have saved my life! The hospital is usually a place of sickness, pain, life and death situations and other negative stuff. The staff, on these days, have not only treated what is wrong in me, they also value the person I am. The hospital staff, from the respiratory therapists to the hospital chaplains, to the nurses and oth...

Pandemic, Part 4, Grief

Image
Dear Friends, I haven’t written in a while so, I thought I would try today. I have been going through a difficult time, a time of trials, grief, despair and sadness. The Coronavirus is still raging and even spiking in some states. The state of Massachusetts has been careful in managing this Pandemic, slower than most states to reopen. Being a person with severe, life threatening medical problems, I am grateful to the governor and to all of the other people who have made decisions carefully, driven by the data. I live in an assisted senior living residence and there have been times when I have been fearful and frightened. These past few weeks have not been easy. Last Monday, a close friend passed. Last Tuesday, another friend of mine had passed. Last Wednesday a dear friend of mine had passed. These deaths are the latest of the people in my life who have died this year, people that I’ve known and I’ve loved I realize that death is a part of Life but, it min...
